About the School

The Rajghat Besant School run by Krishnamurti Foundation India was founded in 1934. The Krishnamurti Foundation India was originally established in 1928 as a charitable institution, registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 by Shri J. Krishnamurti, the World Teacher and Dr. Annie Besant a personality of international fame in the name of Rishi Valley Trust.

The name was changed to the Foundation for New Education in 1953 and to Krishnamurti Foundation India in 1970. The school has established a number of schools in India and the Rajghat Besant School is one of them. Every school is associated with a Study Center established in the same campus. The intention of establishing these schools is to create in the young children not only an excellent academic capability but also to make them aware of the teachings of Krishnamurti.

This may be possible in an atmosphere of natural beauty, care and affection offered to children through people who are deeply and fully dedicated to the teachings.

The school is run on no profit or loss basis. All the expenses are met through the fees paid by students. The fees structure is so designed that it takes care of all the expenses of the school which include salaries, mess expenses, teaching expenses, and maintenance & establishment expenses.

The RBS is a fully residential co-educational, English-medium school affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. It has about 350 students ranging in age from 6 to 18 years, residing in twelve different houses spread over the campus.

There are nearly fifty teachers of whom twenty-five also function as House-Parents and live with the students in the hostels. The classes range from Grade II to Grade XII, with about twenty five students in a class. The overall ratio of staff to students in the school is 1:7, and there is one house parent for every fifteen children.

The school offers a range of extra-curricular activities, like games and sports, yoga, gymnastics, art, music, dance, gardening, computers and literary skills, in all of which students can participate according to their aptitude
